Silvano was born in Gallarate (Varese) in 1939, he started his artistic activity devoting himself for 10 years to the art of xylographical engraving, moving on to artistic ceramics and later still to oil paintings. His subjects are treated in a very personal and particular way; reality as he sees it is filtered through dreams, memories surfacing from the unconconcious. The result is remarkable.

The impression given when looking at the pictures of still being able to participate in the world of fairy-tales which, with the passing of the years, one has left behind.

Holler wrote of him “knowing this artist one seems, though his paintings, to turn inwards to the best of oneself, honesty towards everyone and everything, and it would not be wrong for him to be considered the painter of truth”.

Silvano Gamba has participated in numerous competitions, winning prizes and gaining recognition from both the critics and the public.

In 1975 he was invited to the Rome Art Quadrennial. Among his many personal and group exhibitions Stresa, Milan, Cotina d’Ampezzo and Belluno should be remembered. His works are exhibited every year by:-
