Max Lived from 1915-1998. He was noted not just for painting Marine subjects, but almost

making them a topograhical record. For a time, he lived at Hull where he not only received his artistic education, but also

discovered 2 famous local artists noted for their seascapes - Henry Redmore and Thomas Somerscales - both of whom influenced

him greatly.
Interestingly, his wife was distantly related to Thomas Somerscales. The latter part of his life was spent in

Sussex. He also had great experience of stained glass windows.
